Runway

2019

RUNWAY IS
A FLUID AND DETERMINED MARCH.
AN ELEMENTARY FORM OF RESISTANCE.
A CHOREOGRAPHIC PIECE AROUND HAIR.
AN ODE TO THIS LIVING AND SOMETIMES INDOMPTABLE MATERIAL.
A FREE AND SENSUAL EXPLORATION OF ITS MULTIPLE EVOCATIONS.

In collaboration with fashion designer Charlie Le Mindu, founder of "Haute Coiffure", and composer Clive Jenkins, Delgado Fuchs immerses themself in the history of hair and begins an impetuous and uninhibited procession in these hairy and abundant territories.

Nature vs culture, freedom vs repression, personal expression vs diktat of appearance, animality vs. humanity, hair is at the heart of crucial individual and collective issues.

Indeed, between Louis XIV who would have envisaged the making of a royal wig made out of the hair of his subjects and the singer Solange who in "Do not Touch My Hair" evokes today the movement Black Lives Matter and the inviolability of Human dignity, capillary issues refer to much deeper struggles.

Stereotypes, mechanisms of identity construction, strategies of representation become particularly interesting when they are questioned, confronted, reconfigured.

"Malleable but wild, the hair is simultaneously the material «worked» on stage and a powerful symbol loaded with innumerable connotations. We confront our skins with these shaggy masses, fight with these undulating fleeces, to sublimate their gross materiality and extract singular and vivid images."
